Cranberry Scone Mix
(Makes 9-10 scones; approximate cost per package, including bag: 72 cents; other dried fruits may be substituted for the cranberries)

biscuits and scones

Mix Contents:
2c. plain flour (20 cents)
1 T. baking powder (3 cents)
1/8 tsp. baking soda (1 cent)
1 tsp. salt (1 cent)
1/4 c. dry nonfat milk
1/2 c. sugar*
1/3 c. dried cranberries (20 cents) (Note: this is a thrifty recipe. If you can afford to, adding up to twice the cranberries improves the recipe. *Also, I use Ocean Spray Craisins, which are sweetened, so you may want to adjust the amount of sugar if using plain cranberries.)
(Plus one baggie, 4 cents)

Instructions to include with mix:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. In a bowl, combine scone mix, 3/4 c. water, & 2 T. vegetable oil.
3. Stir with a fork only until ingredients are blended.
4. Heap spoonfuls of dough onto greased cooking sheet, approximately two inches apart (dough doubles in size).
5. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
